Birdland Brewing Co. now open in Horseheads

Another new brewery has opened along the Finger Lakes Beer Trail. Located at 1015 Kendall Street in Horseheads, Birdland Brewing Co. is the result of hard work and two decades worth of home brewing experience. Dennis Edwards has been brewing beer out of his garage for his friends and family for the last twenty years. After the last five years of him hearing from his loyal hops tasters “Hey Dennis, this stuff is great, you need to open up a brewery!” Dennis finally embraced his passion fully and huddled up with his wife Susan and long time friend Mike Hess and started Birdland Brewing Company.

The three partners spent most of the past summer converting a former carwash into their brewery operations, complete with a 15' x 15' tasting room. “We looked at a couple different places, but this building had open bays and a built-in drain,” said Dennis Edwards. “It was a blank slate and we could do with it what we wanted.”

Birdland Brewing Co. will initially feature four types of beer, all made from Dennis Edwards’ recipes — an IPA, a pale ale and two styles of amber beers. Seasonal brews will be offered as well.
